Mission & Objectives

Mission Statement

At Nu Start Community Enterprise, our mission is to support, inspire, and empower young people and their communities to realise their full potential. We are committed to creating opportunities that enable individuals to grow economically, physically, and educationally by connecting them with the resources, guidance, and support they need to succeed. Through the development of impactful community-based programmes, alongside access to work placements and educational pathways, we aim to equip young people with the skills, confidence, and resilience to build positive futures. In doing so, we foster stronger connections within families and peer networks, contributing to safer neighbourhoods, higher levels of achievement, and a more inclusive and thriving community for all.

Our Objectives

  • Support Young People’s Development
    To provide young people and young adults up to the age of 25 in the UK, Africa and the Caribbean with access to advice, guidance, and structured educational programmes that support their personal, social, and professional development.
  • Build Skills and Independence
    To equip beneficiaries with the skills, confidence, and capabilities needed to progress in life, enabling them to become independent, responsible, and active members of society.
  • Empower Women Through Support Services
    To address the needs of women in the UK, Africa and the Caribbean by offering training, counselling, advice, and ongoing support that promotes wellbeing, personal growth, and equal opportunities.

Our History

NU Start was founded to unite youth organisations that recognised the power of collaboration in creating greater opportunities for young people. While much has changed for young people across London, the need for strong partnerships and collective action remains as important as ever.
 
Since our inception, we have worked closely with our partners to provide high-quality opportunities for learning, creativity, and personal development. Through our programmes, young people are able to build confidence, develop skills, and form meaningful, trusted relationships with peers and mentors.
 
Our foundation is rooted in the belief that every young person—regardless of their background or circumstances—deserves access to safe spaces, inspiring activities, and positive role models. Over time, we have continued to evolve, adapting our approach to meet the changing needs of young people and ensuring they receive the support and opportunities required to thrive.
 
At a time when funding for youth services is under increasing pressure and vital provisions are being reduced, our work is more critical than ever. NU Start remains committed to championing grassroots youth organisations and supporting the dedicated professionals working across London.
 
We are proud of our journey and remain focused on empowering young people to reach their full potential.
